Poker Faces

Whew… what a weekend! Saturday, Oct. 3 was a memorable day. And not just because of this:

Not only was I busy volunteering at the Red Shoe Council’s Casino Royale, but the Gators were giving Ole Miss a beat down. And I was missing every single glorious second. Thank you to my daddy for texting me throughout the game so I knew what was going on.

Moving on to why I’m writing this post…The Red Shoe Council did a fantastic job on its inaugural Casino Royale, which was held at the 1930 Grande Room in Ybor City. It was a fun night filled with great food, performances by the Aerial Dragons, a silent auction, and popular games like craps, blackjack, Texas Hold ‘Em and roulette. I donated my services to be the official photographer of the event, and I donated a holiday portrait package for the silent auction. I’m looking forward to meeting the winning family!

The event space looked great -- the lighting, the centerpieces, the tables and linens all were perfect. As a photographer, I learned this event space is quite challenging because the ceilings are painted black so all of the light is absorbed. I will need to bring a light diffuser the next time I photograph an event there.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the event. You can check out more photos on Blondeshell Studios’s Facebook page.

Giving Back

Think about the last time you visited McDonalds for McNuggets, or a McCafe or a McFlurry or any other McYummy treat. You probably saw a little change box that said Ronald McDonald House Charities on it. But do you really know what that is?

I learned about this special charity through my bible study. A few years ago, we began to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House on Davis Island. Here, families from outside the Bay area who have a child receiving medical care at a Tampa hospital can stay at the house for a nominal fee. Breakfast and dinner are prepared by volunteers for house families, a small way to hopefully make this stressful time easier for the families.

On Oct. 3, 2015, the Red Shoe Council is hosting its Casino Royale fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay. It will be a fun night of casino games, fancy attire, cocktails and a silent auction.

The Red Shoe Council consists of young and mid-professionals who live and work in the Tampa Bay area. Its goals are to raise community awareness and operating funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay. The council hosts and participates in fundraisers for RMH on both sides of the bay, and prepares quarterly meals at the houses.

I’m lending my photography services to the charity to capture all of the fun moments as we raise money for a worthy cause. I’ll also be donating a photography package as part of the silent auction.

If you’re looking for something fun to do on a Saturday night, then get your tickets today. Be sure to say hello… I’ll be the blonde with the big camera, running around at the event.

Oh Boy!

Last month I was so excited to celebrate Jaclyn’s baby boy at a wonderful shower that her family threw for her. It was a packed house full of love, good food, laughter and TONS of cute presents.

The event ended with a little bit of begging, pleading and conspiring against the mommy-to-be, but more on that later.
